Our Client, an Aberdeen based E&P Operator has an immediate requirement for a Principal Instrument Engineer

 

Contract basis – PAYE. This role is initially for a 9 month period.

 

The ideal candidate shall be a highly motivated engineer with experience in project and operational support roles. Ensuring that standards, specifications and guidelines pertaining to the Instrumentation and Control discipline conform to the requirements of relevant industry legislation, standards, and guidance. Effectively prioritising ops support/own projects and tasks to ensure delivery on time and within budget. Providing specialist support and advice to other departments within the organisation; including, Operations, HES, Decommissioning, IT, F&A, Commercial, and Drilling.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • General control of project work including look-ahead planning, controlling budgets and schedules, change control, estimating activities, document management system set-up and weekly progress reporting
  • Reviewing client and international standards and ensuring project compliance
  • Developing project functional requirements specifications for control systems, SIS, F&G and instrumentation
  • Carry out feasibility studies and reviewing design alternatives
  • Develop instrument databases
  • Participate in design reviews including HAZOP SIL/LOPA, hazardous area, constructability, etc.
  • Perform calculations for intrinsic safety, SIL verification, flow metering sizing, valve sizing, thermowells, etc.
  • Manage the preparation of design deliverables
  • Develop the control and instrumentation content of piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Liaise with and manage interfaces with other engineering disciplines; process, electrical, mechanical, piping and civils and architectural
  • Interface with clients’ engineering representatives
  • Prepare subcontract requisitions for E&I installation and testing.

Key requirements:

 

  • Substantial Oil and Gas industry experience and previous experience executing control and instrumentation project work in the oil and gas industry.
  • Degree in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience / related qualification
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with design and operation of Oil and Gas installations, including DCS, ESD, F&G, and process instrumentation for use in hazardous area environments
  • Experience in provision of engineering support to offshore operations
  • Experience in planning and delivery of technical projects
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-starter who drives for results
  • Fully conversant with relevant industry legislative requirements, standards, and guidance
  • TUV Certified (Preferred)
  • Chartered Engineer Status, or working toward this

Key responsibilities:

 

Department IT Support:

  • Management of MS365 services for the Wells Department via Sharepoint and Teams
  • Support well engineers to optimise working practices via MS365 and in-house software platforms

Engineering:

Reporting:

Data Management:

  • Optimise data management processes
  • Administer shared drive.

Drawings/schematics:

  • Prepare (in conjunction with Engineer) well schematics
  • Revise Wells Schematic Drawings following intervention and have verified before distribution.
  • Review all current Well Status sheets and have verified before distribution.
  • Ensure proper archiving of schematics.

Other:

  • Audit support to well engineers
  • Support Drilling & Wells department where required including planning scopes.

Key requirements:

 

  • HND or degree in a technical/engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a well services/drilling/completions environment would be beneficial.
  • Excellent computer/MS 365 Office skills. Knowledge of archiving, planning, well schematic software and well integrity management software.
  • Good communication skills and a self-starter.
  • Experience in data and document management advantageous.

Staff Position based in Aberdeen.

Start Date: Ideally around March 2020.

Success candidate will provide geophysical interpretation and support for field development, subsurface mapping, reservoir modelling, well planning and seismic acquisition. They will be expected to provide technical input into field development and reservoir management plans.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Subsurface mapping and the integration of seismic data with geological, well and production data to develop fit-for-purpose subsurface depth structure maps, structural interpretations and reservoir quality predictions to be provided as input for reservoir models.
  • Integration of relevant geophysical data leading to the identification and maturation of in and near field drilling targets and production improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain and update rock physics models for reservoirs and fluids in order to make predictions of hydrocarbon saturation / pore pressure and assist in reservoir history matching.
  • Responsible for leading the definition of requirements for geophysical data acquisition, site surveys and coordination of safe and effective acquisition operations.
  • Work closely with other specialists with a multi-discipline team approach to reservoir development and production optimisation.

Key requirements:

  • A degree in Geophysics, Geology or a related discipline. Preferably with a post-graduate qualification in Petroleum Geoscience, Geophysics or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience as a development geoscientist with an E&P Operator working on operated field development projects and producing assets.
  • Strong interpretive geophysical skills including classical seismic interpretation, structural geology, seismic attribute analysis, rock physics, depth conversion and well-tie analysis.
  • Experience in recognising shortcomings in seismic datasets and recommending, planning and optimising seismic acquisition and processing projects to address these.
  • Experience of reservoir modelling, 4D seismic acquisition and interpretation, and working with reservoir engineers, integration of this data with simulation models.
  • Proficiency in the use of seismic interpretation and mapping software (e.g. Petrel), rock physics software (e.g. RokDoc) and specialist seismic attribute analysis.

The manufacture and availability of high-quality equipment is a critical factor in the successful achievement of Drilling and Wells operational targets, particularly in relation to timescales and budgets which requires a robust inspection and assurance processes. The job holder will provide support to the QA/QC team leader to ensure that manufacturing, inspection, engineering services and contracts for Drilling and Wells activities are in place to support the achievement of these objectives and that these are managed efficiently and cost effectively and that productive and positive relationships with contractors and suppliers are developed and maintained.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Actively follow Drilling and Completion operations including recording, tracking and following up on operational & equipment failures.
  • Follow up with vendors and service providers on performance failure investigations and present investigation findings and ensure all investigations are closed out.
  • Production and analysis of QA and QC data for reporting and input to continuous improvement processes.
  • Oversee all inspection activities and assignments undertaken by the Company Inspection Service Provider.
  • Technical review and processing of all Inspection Reports.
  • Undertake the approval and competency process for Company Inspection Service Provider proposed Inspectors and Auditors.

Key requirements:

Essential

  • Trained Internal Auditor with experience working within QHSE management, systems and processes environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of key inspection techniques and processes, the statutory and industry standard certification associated with Oil and Gas, drilling and wells equipment and services and the application of Quality Assurance, Oil and Gas Industry Regulations, National and International Codes and Standards, primary manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient at drafting and delivering technical reports and presentations.
  • Proficient in MS Office Professional Applications software.

Desirable

  • ONC or HNC in an engineering related discipline.

Our Client, an Aberdeen based International E&P Operator has a requirement for a Senior Drilling Engineer.

Contract basis – Ideally Ltd. Co. or Agency PAYE.  However, would consider staff role for the right candidate.

Contract term – Ongoing.

Successful candidate will be responsible for developing well designs from a technical and cost standpoint.  Ensuring all inputs required to gain regulatory approval for well operations, and associated notifications to the regulators are submitted in a timely manner. Responsible for monitoring offshore operations and confirming that all well design requirements are achieved and properly assured.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Having a strong commitment to HSSE, plan and execute the design and examination for constructing wells in full compliance with regulatory requirements and Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure drilling programmes, programme amendments and dispensations to policy are prepared on schedule and are adequately risk assessed.
  • Prepare cost estimates and monitor cost control for wells activities.
  • Monitor all phases of the well construction operations.
  • Implement best practices as identified in operational and engineering studies.
  • Provide engineering support for drilling operations.
  • Ensure appropriate assurance and review of the drilling design and work plan.
  • Coach and mentor Drilling Engineers to ensure appropriate technical development.
  • Ensure adequate third-party Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

Key requirements:

  • Worked within the UKCS previously in an engineering position.
  • Sound understanding of drilling engineering fundamentals, including casing design, directional planning, drill string hydraulics, cementing and well control.
  • Experience of working with a variety of offshore drilling installations.
  • Knowledge of the safety, environmental and operations aspects in a Client / Operator environment.
  • Strong safety and environmental awareness with an understanding of legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrate industry experience working to an advanced level of competence.
  • An Engineering, or Science based degree is essential.
  • Highly desirable if has Chartered status or working towards Chartered status.
  • Valid IWCF Level 4 Well Control Certificate.
  • Valid BOSIET, MIST and UK Medical.

Our Client, an Aberdeen based International E&P company has a requirement for a Senior Wellhead and XT Operational Engineer to start January / February 2020.

Initial contract duration will be 10 months.

Contract basis – Due to the upcoming IR35 changes in April 2020, this position has been deemed to be outside IR35 and both Ltd. Co or Agency PAYE will be considered.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the onshore planning and offshore supervision during the installation of the Horizontal XT’s. Support the onshore planning and offshore supervision during the installation of subsea well equipment. Shall be conversant with both new build and legacy systems from to install and operate their equipment.

 

Scope of service:

  • Responsible for the installation of the Horizontal XT from the drilling rig and the installation of the DrilQuip wellhead equipment, Claxton high pressure riser, DQ vertical XT and dual-bore riser from a jack-up drilling rig. Responsible for the test phases of the well including;  interfaces with the Drilling Contractor, LP / HP housing preparation and installation, horizontal and vertical XT preparation and installation, running / retrieval of the subsea test tree (emergency disconnect package) and high pressure riser and dual bore riser.
  • Ensure compliance with Client Management System, HSE Management System, Well Delivery Process and all permits, consents and regulatory notifications.
  • Co-ordinate all subcontractors to ensure objectives and interfaces align with excellent communication between all parties to ensure operations are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Continuously monitor performance including; HSE, operations and logistics whilst capturing lessons learned and continuous improvement. Providing QA for all operations in relation to well objectives and technical KPIs.
  • Ensure all activities are planned and executed with HS&E at the forefront.
  • Provide technical discipline expertise to support the Asset with the operational aspects of Wellhead and Xmas Tree Systems.
  • Participate in the compiling end of well reports.

Service requirements:

  • Engineering Degree preferred but substantial experience with a known XT supplier and experience with a North Sea Operators is also acceptable.
  • Previous North Sea experience with all types of drilling rigs (semi and running of Horizontal XTs preferred) jack-up and running of vertical XTs and a variety of operations.
  • Valid Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (BOSIET).
  • Valid medial certification and all others training / certification to travel offshore and supervise operations at the wellsite.

  • Extensive experience as a Reservoir Engineer with an E&P Operator working on a broad range of operated development and production projects. Preferably both oil and gas fields.
  • Substantial experience in dynamic modelling, history matching and sensitivity analysis using Eclipse (or similar) software.
  • Track record of proactively proposing and implementing successful reservoir management recommendations.

  • Fully competent reservoir engineer with classical reservoir engineering skills.

Our client, an international oil and gas operator requires a Completion Engineer to start asap. This is a staff contract based onshore in Aberdeen. Candidates should be capable of delivering completions solutions & small projects within a team with some self motivated autonomy.

Within technically challenging areas, with budgetary and time constraints, the job holder will play an important role in optimizing well operations and ensuring that wells are fit for purpose by design and installation.  This is critical to achieving the objectives of the Well Engineering function.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to Safety, Health, Environment, Integrity & Security Policies
  • Positively participate in teams of multi-disciplinary engineers providing completion engineering & testing solutions as part of the well delivery process e.g. well planning preparation, tubing stress analysis, material selection, tendering, purchasing, QA/QC, CWOP, peer reviews, risk assessment & execution of operations in a timely manner
  • Accountability for controlling completion & workover costs [typically £10M – £20M per well]
  • Multiple contract holder with initial values up to £2M
  • Prepare completion / testing programmes / end of well reports & co-ordinate other specialist inputs
  • Undertake technical studies and apply technical skills with innovative thinking to obtain positive outcomes: propose changes & / or innovations with properly identified risks & expected benefits
  • Optimise safe working practices in the development of operational programmes. Be familiar with derogations, management of change, company rules, HAZID / HAZOP etc. Liaise with the Well Examiner to ensure programs are in line with the Well Examination Scheme
  • Accurately prepare budgets & durations required for individual wells
  • Update and follow up of equipment preparation for routine & non-routine operations
  • Update and follow-up of the rig cost control for service contracts involved in completion / workover / testing operations
  • Manage assigned contracts through feedback (Service Quality Reporting & auditing) and performance monitoring (KPI’s) to optimise value for company & assess technological advancements available to improve working techniques
  • Actively share experience within the department
  • Prepare statutory applications / notifications to external agencies as required to satisfy the overall completion / testing programme
  • Prepare, review and evaluate tenders for the provision of completion / workover / testing related equipment and services. Provide cost models, technical feedback final recommendations & presentations to contract management committee etc.
  • Prepare and present at forums to promote Client’s abilities
  • Supervise completion / workover / testing operations on designated rigs. Actively participate in the DWIP (Drilling Wells Improvement process).
  • Liaise closely with Operations to support implementation of engineering work plans and provide live completion / testing engineering support
  • Follow up and improve well performance through collaborative evaluation and innovation.
  • Participate in small task forces to resolve engineering / technical issues. Assist in the implementation of solutions.  Participate in group wide (REX) feedback of new or innovative engineering solutions

Key requirements: 

  • The job holder will hold a BSc, BEng, MEng or MSc (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum) with experience in well engineering and exposure to offshore operations
  • Organisational skills to prioritise and manage a heavy workload in a rapidly changing environment
  • Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Office suite, completion schematic packages, WellCat (or other) & other typical software
  • Committed to developing skills and experience in technical disciplines e.g. well completion design, well architecture calculations etc.
  • Fluent spoken and written English

Key responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for understanding and controlling major risks relating to well stock
  • Interdisciplinary working to optimise safe production of wells
  • Management of Well Integrity throughout Well life cycle
  • Focal point for promoting well integrity understanding across disciplines
  • Responsible for maintaining, updating and upgrading Well Integrity Management System (WIMS)
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to Safety, Health, Environment, Integrity & Security Policies
  • Maintains awareness of and ensures compliance with all relevant Statutory and Company HSE standards.
  • Interfaces appropriately with in a multi-disciplinary context to ensure well integrity is managed in the affiliate.
  • Management of WIMS (Well Integrity Management System) activities as outlined in CR EP EXP 432.
  • Management of WIMS software package.
  • Monitoring Well Stock through proficient use of PI software.
  • Undertake technical studies and recommend action for wells based upon integrity status.
  • Respond to well integrity anomalies providing technical recommendation to management
  • Update Well Operating Guidelines for all assets considering Company Rule design criteria over the well lifecycle. (Define MAASP and Operating Windows for wells through calculation or investigation)
  • Participate in small task forces to resolve engineering / technical issues. Participate in group wide (REX) feedback of new or innovative engineering solutions.
  • Lead Well Integrity Monthly meetings by asset with operations and asset integrity personnel
  • Participate in risk assessments with Drilling, Completions, Operations and Methods teams
  • Actively share experience and present abilities internally and externally.
  • Well Integrity Reporting
    • Daily Well Integrity and derogations report / Field Summary reports
    • Monthly Asset Well Status Report for partners
    • Monthly Well Integrity KPI Report (WIMS barrier status compliance and Stream risk status)
    • Input to TIRT / IMRB / Annual Integrity
    • Write memos to document and communicate well integrity issues, status and work carried out (to management and other disciplines)
  • Maintain knowledge of Industry Standards and guidelines, best practice and innovation relative to well integrity
  • Update of Well Integrity Procedures and operational philosophy as required
  • Ensure wells in operation meet Company Rules throughout the well lifecycle and complete derogations as required
  • Share lessons learned and provide Well Integrity specific training for other métiers where required.
  • Maintain strong link with headquarters. Participate in HQ Well Integrity Surveillance Committee (WISC) reviews.
  • Ensure visibility of the well integrity status of all wells in to management/well examiner/regulator
  • Maintain an up to date WIMS database
  • Creating positive & productive relationships

Key requirements: 

  • Educated to degree level in Mechanical or Petroleum engineering related discipline and demonstrates experience and/or training in well servicing and completion in oil industry.
  • Previous operational experience in well engineering. Reservoir/Production knowledge is beneficial.
  • Fluent with the different parameters, mechanisms affecting the integrity of the well (from reservoir to surface production).
  • Proficient with the main well equipment devices, drilling and completion techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, communication, leadership and negotiation skills
  • Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Office suite & other typical wells related software
  • Committed to developing skills and experience other technical disciplines e.g. well completion design, well architecture, well integrity
  • Fluent spoken and written English
