Our Client, an Aberdeen based International E&P Operator has a requirement for a Senior Safety Advisor to provide safety advice and guidance primarily to the wells team and facilitates continuous improvement through the implementation of the HSSEQ Management System.

Contract Basis – Agency PAYE.

Initial Contract Duration – One year contract starting ASAP.

Location – Aberdeen, UK.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical advice and guidance to the Company on all HSSEQ matters relating to wells and drilling and any operational support where required.
  • Provide input and advice to specific well activity plans, identifies potential risks or infringements, and advises management/team members.
  • Attends and leads appropriate technical team meetings to maintain a clear understanding of operational requirements and ensure HSSEQ considerations are taken into account.
  • Develops HSSEQ plans and processes for wells activities ensuring strict compliance with Company and regulatory HSE standards and expectations and assists well management teams to execute wells programmes safely and without harm to the environment. Monitors/analyses HSSEQ performance and develops improvement plans for work activities, as appropriate.  Leads the Wells team monthly meetings to discuss annual performance and set subsequent years goals.
  • Contributes to the development of HSSEQ KPI’s for wells activities and monitors and reports on performance and provides monthly statistics to the Wells team.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve HSSEQ performance in well operations and co-ordinates activities with the Wells Manager and Team Leads to implement ideas into processes and procedures leading to continuous HSSEQ performance improvement.
  • Administers the Company’s wells specific management system.
  • Maintains an up-to-date awareness of changes to legislative requirements and ensures wells/drilling systems and procedures are updated to reflect operational requirements.
  • Works with the HSSEQ department and Wells teams to prepare responses to regulator enquiries relating to inspections and investigations.
  • Facilitates platform/mobile rig regulatory inspections where required.
  • Attends/Facilitates HAZIDs, HAZOPs, ORA’s and HIRA’s where required.
  • Makes visits offshore to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications, promote and support Company/contractor HSSEQ-related campaigns, conduct audits etc.
  • Develops and manages the Safety Management Interfacing process for wells activities ensuring HSSEQ requirements are considered and issues managed effectively at contract award stage and at all subsequent stages of the wells activity process. Creates interface documents with key vendors.
  • Regularly reviews contractor performance to ensure deliverables are being met. Attends QPR sessions for key contracts when required and applicable.

Main Responsibilities (cont’d):

  • Provides general advice and support across the Company on a wide range of HSSEQ related matters, as required.
  • Monitors input & output of systems such as Impact, ELogbook (ORA/OATS), on Actions Management System, Process Safety Dashboard and Intelligent Safety Sharepoint for quality control, trending and lesson learned. Assists team members in actively tracking and closing out actions by holding regular meetings with Wells team leads.
  • Dissemination of HSSEQ related information, identifying trends and providing business examples of Safety Rules, Intelligent Safety behaviours and Step Change 7Cs.
  • Develops ideas and initiates improvement in HSSEQ processes and procedures and, where appropriate, develops improvement options.
  • Provides support and input to a wide range of HSSEQ processes e.g. Incident Investigation/Reporting, Audit Procedures/Programmes, Loss Control Procedure/Investigations, Risk Assessment Procedure/Risk Assessments, Corrective/Preventive Action.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with the Wells Senior Environmental Advisor and ability to work as a team.
  • Provides HSSEQ mentoring, coaching and development opportunities for team members as needed.
  • Active member of the IMT Call out System for HSSEQ function and participation in Emergency Response and Crisis Management training exercises.

 

Key requirements:

  • Must hold NEBOSH, IOSH, Masters or similar qualification.
  • Must have valid BOSIET, MIST and Offshore Medical
  • Preferred to hold a degree in a technical/engineering discipline

Must have

  • Considerable experience in a drilling related HSSEQ role.
  • Experience in operations related HSSEQ role.
  • First-hand knowledge and experience of the UK oil and gas industry preferably within an Operator environment.
  • Considerable knowledge of the UKCS HSE regulatory regime, particularly as it applies to well management/drilling activities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analyse actual costs and forecast expenditure and provide details on variances between budget and forecast.
  • Prepare budgets in conjunction with budget holder and as directed by the Lead Cost Performance.
  • Challenge forecasts and expenditure to ensure ‘value for money’ and consistency of approach within context of complex and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Support

  • Provide site operations with direct technical support ensuring continual cost-effective improvement of process equipment in support of maximising production safely.
  • Analyse and resolve short term production and process issues.
  • In collaboration with the Production Chemistry team, monitor the performance of chemical treatments on the asset.
  • Creation of temporary operating instructions.
  • Optimisation of the plant against current operating conditions.

Routine Monitoring & Reporting

  • Carry out daily routine monitoring checks on production critical equipment and wells with the assistance of the well performance engineer as required and propose changes where necessary to optimise the plant and wells to maintain safe and efficient production.
  • Assist environment, production chemistry and hydrocarbon accounting teams in the gathering of data required for monthly reporting of emissions and discharges.

RFM process

  • Propose and justify modifications to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, production, environmental and cost performance.
  • Provide support to the site and to Maintenance and Inspection discipline engineers to ensure timely and effective delivery of modifications.

Process Engineering and studies

  • Perform process studies for plant modifications.
  • When relevant, review and comment on RFM dossiers.
  • Provide process engineering input to HAZOPs, HAZIDs, Risk Assessments, SIL assessments and other technical safety assessments / audits, both during the actual assessment and during subsequent action resolution.

Management of third party vendors

  • In coordination with the asset project engineers and contract representative, manage the interface between third parties and site operations.

Flow assurance

Assist in the provision of flow assurance support for the following activities:

  • Investigation and resolution of flow assurance related issues.
  • Preparation of production optimisation trial programmes.
  • Input to Commercial and Development studies carried out by the Performance and Growth Team.
  • Preparation, review, and update of flow assurance aspects of site operating procedures.
  • Maintenance of asset Pipeline Management Systems and calibration of models to field data.

Tanker Forecasting

Key Responsibilities:

SECE

  • Define and continuously maintain the means of assurance activities required to achieve and maintain the performance standards for safety critical equipment over the asset life cycle.
  • Participate in and contribute to safety studies and HAZOPS.

Budget

  • Prepare and manage the discipline budget.
  • Manage the cost control process within budget for discipline for routine and non-routine jobs and modifications.

Personnel Management

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with site personnel through effective communication and by making regular visits to operated assets.

Contract Management

  • Manage and facilitate contract tenders and negotiations.

Contract Basis – Agency PAYE.

Initial Contract Duration – ASAP for 12 month project.

The Post Holder will be allocated to an Asset Geosciences team and will actively contribute to HSE evaluation of operations; develop, recommend, and implement reservoir management strategies to maximise the value of the Asset, identify, develop, and promote opportunities for further development of the fields. The Post Holder may be called onsite to witness operations on an ad hoc basis.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate resources and reserves ranges of field development projects in association with their G&G colleagues. Expected to provide an evaluation of subsurface risks and uncertainties of these projects. Fluent in reservoir simulation techniques, model building, decline curve analysis.
  • Performs analysis of field and well production behaviour incorporating G&G understanding of the field to define the reservoir management strategy and to propose production optimising operations. Prepares Well Intervention Requests and WSOR documents.
  • May be called offshore to witness relevant operations such as PLT’s, perforations, Cased hole Pulse Neutron logging, Well Testing, offshore PVT sampling and production chemistry. Usually delegated to less experienced engineers.
  • Performs annual reserves and profile evaluations for the Prime, LTP exercises. Performs prospect evaluations, data rooms, and Direct Resource Opportunities studies.
  • Mentors less experienced Reservoir Engineers.
  • Identify and promote value adding opportunities, i.e., production and reserves increases.
  • Responsible for WSOR and Well Intervention geosciences inputs, particularly for safety critical parameters such as reservoir pressure evaluations and fluid properties.
  • Managing HQ or external studies. Develops budget recommendations for technical work.
  • Play a key technical role in projects and 2G&R studies.

Key requirements:

  • BSc Hons Degree in Engineering or related discipline, MSc preferred.
  • Significant experience in reservoir engineering related topics in the oil industry, including field experience of reservoir monitoring activities (i.e. witnessing DST, wireline logging, perforations). Has performed project development studies sanctioned by a REGIS or equivalent peer reviews. Has experience in preparation and follow up of well construction operations (i.e. WSOR preparation, completion design)
  • Good understanding of geological and geophysical concepts such as sequential stratigraphy correlations, geophysical interpretation, seismic acquisition and processing.
  • Good understanding of project economics, well construction concepts and hazards, completion operations and design, well lift performance, allocation.

Key Responsibilities

Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) projects, high level – Screening and development of Environmental Projects to reduce CO2 generation and optimise the energy intensity of the CNS operating assets. Achieved by:

  • Participations in ideas creation workshops (e.g. ideas, screening, technology etc) with corporate team and other assets
  • Development of screened projects up to and including RFM stage. This includes prioritsation exercise and inhouse development & managing external resources dependent on the route taken to develop.
  • Detailed level knowledge of all CFR projects in the asset.
  • Share details of the asset’s CFR projects with other assets at CFR workshops.
  • Where required; focal point for roll out of actions under the CFR guide and roadmap to the asset.

Engineering and studies

  • Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive RFM dossiers associated with CFR projects, and effective handover to asset Maintenance Team or third-party Party Engineering Company for detailed engineering and implementation.
  • Provide process engineering input to HAZOPs, HAZIDs, Risk Assessments, SIL assessments and other technical safety assessments and audits, both during the actual assessment and during subsequent action resolution.
  • Provide process engineering assistance to Shutdown Team with regards to CFR related modifications.

RFM process

  • Propose and justify modifications to reduce C02 emissions and optimise energy intensity performance.
  • Provide support to the site and to Maintenance and Inspection discipline engineers to ensure timely and effective delivery of modifications, including initiation of cases, design, and engineering, assisting with the preparation of work packs, implementation on site and close-out.

Management of third-party party vendors in coordination with the asset project engineers and contract representative

  • Prepare scopes of work for third-party party vendor and consultancy services to carry out study and modification work as part of CFR perimeter.
  • Undertake technical bid evaluations on third-party party proposals.

  • Manage the interface between third-party parties, SMART room and site operations.
