Contract Basis:  Agency PAYE

Leading the Geographical Information Services team, the job holder will ensure support and maintenance of key company geographical databases, automated data workflows, projects and services associated with surface and subsurface spatial data within the offshore energy sector.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and prioritize daily GIS and graphic operational activities.
  • Ensure provision of efficient service to all customer groups including geoscience, engineering and survey, environmental teams, and liaise with other support teams locally and globally.
  • Lead GIS projects, software or databases development, and input to projects within Geoinformation team to technically support spatial data and ETL work scopes.
  • Support development of data solutions for projects relating to digital transformation, and act as coordinator between different stakeholders to ensure Geoscience and GIS data components are efficiently delivered and maintainable.

Key requirements:

Our Client, an Aberdeen based International E&P Operator has a requirement for a Development Geologist to provide geological interpretation and support for field development and production.

Contract Basis:  Agency PAYE.

Contract Term:  12 months.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and interpretation of geological and well data and integration with seismic and reservoir engineering data and interpretations to develop fit-for-purpose geological descriptions, volumetrics and risking for reservoirs as input to reservoir models for reservoir management and identification and / or maturation of production growth opportunities, in-field drilling and near-field opportunities.
  • Development and maintenance of static reservoir models using Petrel, updating models with data from development wells, seismic interpretation and production as required to optimise reservoir management and identify, optimise, and evaluate growth opportunities.
  • Provision of geoscience interpretation and input to well planning and the operational phase of development drilling. The development geologist will be expected to play an integral part in the definition of well targets and trajectories and to play an active role in decision making during geosteering operations.
  • Work closely with other specialists to provide a multi-discipline team approach to reservoir development and production optimisation and to identify, define and propose fit-for-purpose geological work-programs to support production growth and reservoir management activities.
  • Actively participate in relevant external reviews, JV meetings and other ad-hoc technical meetings.
  • Support geological interpretation and activity across the UKBU as required on an ad-hoc basis.

Key requirements:

  • A degree in Geology or a related discipline, preferably with a post-graduate qualification in Petroleum Geoscience, Geophysics, or related discipline.
  • Significant experience as a development geoscientist with an E&P Operator working on operated field development projects and producing assets, with demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpretive geological skills including sedimentology, petrology, stratigraphy and well-correlation, structural geology, and geological interpretation of well-logs with demonstrated expertise in integrated reservoir characterisations and volumetric analysis. Knowledge of and an ability to carry out classical seismic interpretation and an awareness of rock-physics interpretation would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated understanding of 3D geocellular model design and extensive experience of static model building, with detailed knowledge of current available software tools and ability to integrate geophysical attributes into static models.
  • Understanding of dynamic reservoir simulation modelling and integration of static models into the simulation model realm. The candidate will also have experience of working closely with reservoir engineers to interpret and incorporate dynamic data into static reservoir descriptions and models.
  • A strong background in reservoir uncertainty analysis for volumetric analysis and static uncertainty inputs into dynamic simulation models.
  • Geological operations and development well planning experience, coupled with a good understanding of drilling and production operations.
  • Experience in planning and executing value-adding geological evaluation and modelling work-programmes and studies and managing third-party contractors.
  • Proven ability to bring forward clear, business-focussed recommendations and appropriate work programmes to influence the business and improve production and/or reserves.
  • Ability to work at pace to produce high quality and fit-for-purpose subsurface interpretations and maps on schedule, as required to evaluate new development and in-field opportunities.
  • Proficient in the use of geological interpretation and 3D static reservoir model building software (e.g. Petrel), including application of automated work-flow management in this software.
  • Practical experience and knowledge of seismic interpretation and an understanding of how geology relates to reservoir engineering and petroleum economics.
  • Systematic approach to uncertainty management and the ability to work with limited data.
  • Prior experience of injectite reservoirs would be an advantage

Provide Reservoir Engineering interpretation, guidance and support to asset teams and business development as required.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, maintenance and history matching of fit-for-purpose dynamic reservoir simulation models for operated and non-operated fields as required.
  • Constantly seek out opportunities to optimise production and/or increase recovery of Company operated assets. Develop or maintain the reservoir management strategy for assigned operated assets, set production targets, carry out day to day reservoir and well surveillance, ESP monitoring and manage the well-stock to deliver the strategy and maximise value delivery.
  • Review partner operated assets and QC Operator’s subsurface work and undertake fit-for-purpose independent reservoir studies as required to underpin investment and operational decisions. Influence the Operator to add value to the Company’s UK Non-operated Assets portfolio via safe and efficient field development, and value-accretive production improvements.
  • Provide technically robust inputs into economic models in order to support and recommend field development and/or well intervention activity on operated and non-operated assets and prepare well recommendations, well planning documentation and AFEs as appropriate.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for reserves progression and increased production.
  • Provide high quality, accurate reporting of production profiles and reserves estimates.
  • Work closely with the Subsurface Team Lead and Asset Managers to generate and execute the subsurface work programmes necessary for the Non-operated and assigned Operated Assets portfolio. Monitor progress and prioritise work programmes, identifying additional subsurface technical support requirements.

Key requirements:

  • Degree in an Engineering or Geoscience discipline and preferably a post-graduate qualification in Reservoir Engineering or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Extensive experience and current technical capability as a Reservoir Engineer with an E&P Operator working on a broad range of operated development and production projects in both oil and gas fields. Experience of HPHT reservoirs and development would be a significant advantage.
  • A strong track record of proactively engaging with and influencing Joint Venture Partners including experience influencing reservoir-related decisions in a non-operated role. The breadth of the role will also demand a good understanding of wider subsurface and drilling related issues.
  • Substantial experience in dynamic modelling, history matching and sensitivity analysis.
  • Track record of successful production operations reservoir engineering support, manging producing well-stock on a daily basis, including experience of monitoring and managing ESP performance.

  • Primary project wells technical focal point for selected well decommissioning contractor, to identify, evaluate and put forward proposed well decommissioning recommendations.
  • Provide technical support to manage and deliver scopes of work, including overall, select phase delivery of the well abandonment programmes.
  • Act as primary well abandonment technical assurance engineer overseeing the full select phase well abandonment delivery.
  • Provide supervision and technical review of contractors work to ensure meets expectations on delivery, cost, schedule and quality.

Key requirements:

  • Previous and considerable experience in a similar role essential.
  • Ideally should have experience in identifying, evaluating and proposing well decommissioning recommendations at a conceptual level, but also having essential knowledge and demonstrable practical experience in a Well Decommissioning role.
  • Must have significant and recent UKCS experience preferably with an operator.

Our Client, an International E&P Operator has an immediate requirement for a Drilling Operations Lead.

Permanent Staff role.

The successful candidate will assist the Well Engineering Manager in the management of operated and non-operated well operation activities within the BU, to ensure compliance with the well engineering management system, HSE risk management standard, wells personnel competency, government regulations and local industry guidelines and best practices with due regards for health, safety and the environment. Provide cover as Wells Technical Authority (TA) and emergency well control response as required.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for technical support and influencing both operated and non-operated drilling operations and projects. Specifically: monitor operations, ensure safety incidents are investigated / closed-out and shared across asset / functional teams; Ensure all NCRs are satisfactorily closed out; Provide a weekly summary of operation (including non-ops) to the relevant Management Teams; Chair, lead and issue minutes for the bi-monthly Drilling Scheduling meeting; Perform offshore/harbour rig/vessel assurance visits as required.
  • Responsible for reviewing and technically assuring/signing-off of drilling operational documentation.
  • Responsible for ensuring well activity compliance with Government Regulations and Standards.
  • Assist Well Engineering Manager to review and technically assure / sign-off on all wells / drilling related cost estimates.
  • Responsible for managing the Well Delivery Process and ensuring correct gates and assurance levels are applied and executed in a suitable time frame to meet project delivery dates.
  • Responsible for Wells contract management
  • Assist the Well Engineering Manager in maintaining the drilling / well engineering team at the appropriate strength.
  • Cover as delegate for Well Engineering Manager in the role of Wells Technical Authority (TA) for the well design, construction and abandonment phase. Liaise with the Completions and Well Integrity Team Lead to ensure seamless transition between the construction and operational phase; and assist in the compliance with their Technical Authority (TA) duties. Liaise with asset teams and assist in resolving any potential conflict with the Well Examiner. To include well control issues and operations.
  • Provide cover, including accountability, for the Well Engineering Manager role; Also, to assist in covering for the Completions and Well Integrity Team Lead as required.
  • Collate and provide updates on an annual basis to the Well Engineering Management Standard (WEMS), perform gap analysis to ensure compliance between this document and relevant BU well engineering processes and procedures, update these documents as required.
  • Update and generate UKBU Well Engineering processes, procedures and guidelines.

Key requirements:

  • Relevant degree preferred, but appropriate training & development with a known operator acceptable
  • IWCF Level 4 Drilling Well Control (Combined) Certificate.
  • Medical and relevant offshore certification to allow offshore travel UK North Sea.
  • Extensive industry experience in drilling and well operations; to include wells team lead / drilling superintendent and day drilling supervisor experience. Operator experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience in Technical Authority role but not essential.
  • Proven track record of operational design, planning and executional delivery for exploration, appraisal and development wells.
  • Proven experience with completions, workovers and well intervention well work.
  • Proven knowledge and track record for HS&E delivery.
  • Technically competent and knowledgeable / experienced on drilling equipment, all rig types and well control situations and associated well kill equipment.
  • Experience of taking on new rigs, commissioning / upgrades, and taking rigs and new crews out from harbour.
  • Ideally experienced with managing / operating with semi-submersible, jack up, LWIVs and fixed platform operations in the UK North Sea.
