Our client, an E&P Operator, is seeking a Production Loss Management Specialist.

Contract position, duration approximately 8-9 months.  Based in their Aberdeen office with offshore visits as required.

  • Act as the subject matter expert for the production loss management tool project implementation.
  • Ensure that all production and water injection is optimised in both the short and the medium term in all Company operated assets.
  • Act as focal point to drive improvements in operations efficiency and share learnings across the Business Unit.
  • Work with RE’s, PE’s and subsurface to ensure consistent and accurate production reporting.
  • Improve, roll out and embed the production loss management process. From target setting to action close out on Leased and operated assets.
  • Build on the improvements already being made identifying and managing threats to production and water injection.
  • Increased reporting on investigations and action close out.
  • Ensure Data validation, allocation and reconciliation are correct within the tool.
  • Focal point/coach for improving production efficiency, developing in house capability and driving towards a culture of value barrel chasing.

Key Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in loss management tools and processes.
  • Understanding of Operations and Engineering or Technical disciplines.
  • Qualified to travel to UKCS offshore locations (MIST, BOSIET, FOET, UKCS Medical) essential.
  • Qualifications in a secondary technical discipline or engineering degree would be considered advantageous.
  • Must be a proven leader with demonstrated experience in the creation and successful execution of Loss management programmes.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with a number of different stakeholders.
  • Experience in optimisation of both onshore and offshore facilities is required. A clear understanding of day to day optimisation of facilities, wells and commercial constructs is key. This should be underpinned by a deep understanding of production loss accounting and production allocation.
  • A working knowledge of UKCS HS&E Legislation is required.
  • An expert knowledge in Loss Management and reporting is essential.
  • The candidate will have a strong operational background, preferably including exposure to Production, Maintenance, Well Operations and Engineering Projects in the UKCS.

Responsibilities :

Positioned within the maintenance and inspection department of the asset, this engineering role provides technical/engineering advice and support in relation to maintenance / modification activities.

  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the approved procedures and in accordance with the performance standard requirements and OIAVS.

  • Provide specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to site/offshore personnel on the operation and maintenance of plant/equipment.
  • Conduct ad-hoc technical surveys on site/offshore and at vendor/repair locations, providing detailed technical reports identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum performance from contractors.
  • Issue or review the required PMCR to optimize the preventive maintenance activity. Proactively monitor, review and analyse plant and equipment performance and provide feedback to Line Management, identifying opportunities to maximise production and performance and share best practice.
  • Prepare scopes of work and manage simple mono-disciplines modifications ensuring they are correctly engineered, documented and reported, and that all maintenance activities/modifications are implemented in accordance with statutory/Company standards and correctly closed-out within schedule and budget.
  • Undertake in-depth analyses/studies of problems and recommend longer-term solutions and/or options and make recommendations to line management for approval.  Investigate more complex problems by leading multi-discipline teams/projects in conjunction with other operations personnel.
  • Provision of specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to site/offshore personnel.
  • Contributes to the technical decision-making process relating to discipline.
  • Ensure that jobs undertaken in accordance with budget.
  • Ensure highest safety standards and continuity and optimisation of hydrocarbon production.
  • Develop and maintain productive and constructive relationships with site-based/offshore personnel, onshore operations/technical teams and external contractors/vendors.
  • Provide technical input to contract tenders and negotiations relating to maintenance services.

  • Provide technical input on contractor performance to contract analyst / SQM meetings.
  • Develop positive and constructive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Identify opportunities to improve contractor/supplier performance, reduce costs and improve the quality of services/products supplied.

Requirements : 

  • Degree in Engineering/Technical Discipline.
  • Typically 3 years engineering experience in the oil & gas industry, including offshore/site experience.

  • Good experience of wells Materials Management in the UKCS with an all-round understanding of the demands of operations, reservoir & wells and project support.
  • Good experience in well operations Materials Management, Inventory Management and Warehousing Operations.
  • Maintain necessary offshore certification including BOSIET and medical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Deputy Construction Lead during transition period of Project Team from design office in Milan to the Fabrication Yard in Ravenna.

  • Monitor contractor’s completion system. Undertake audits of their mechanical completions dossier.
  • Track contractor’s manpower deployed on the work via site walks and raise deficiencies with Construction Lead.
  • Assist with interfacing with the ISP (Integrated Service Partner) personnel employed in a pre-operations role in the yard from mechanical completion onwards.
  • Monitor progress and quality in any offsite fabrication workshops via visits.
  • Review quality of the construction engineering drawings being developed in the yard.
  • Carry out regular site safety walk around of the yard.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications – B/Tech or equivalent.  Significant relevant experience and/or vocational qualifications also considered.

    • Must have in-depth knowledge and skills in Yard fabrication, installation, and managing construction execution activities within the oil and gas industry.

This role will be responsible for maintaining and developing the capabilities of the subsurface team in Aberdeen.  The role is further responsible for managing the technical quality and verification of all aspects of the UKBU subsurface work and to provide robust technical challenge to improve production performance and increase recovery from the producing assets. Additionally, the incumbent will provide subsurface resources as required to support petroleum resource reviews, UK exploration and appraisal efforts and business development assessments as required by UK and Corporate Management.

Key Accountabilities include:

1. Ensuring that subsurface priorities and objectives are established and agreed by the UK-based asset managers and the Group Subsurface function.
2. To co-ordinate the production forecasting and reserves reporting for all UK assets.  To identify opportunities for gains in both areas and work across the BU to make changes happen.
3. Ensuring that the subsurface work has been quality controlled and verified prior to Corporate functional review.
4. Providing management, technical leadership and mentoring to the subsurface teams.

  • Accountable for understanding, and effective communication of, all operational risk and associated mitigations

 

  • Ensure all deviations from the agreed plan are discussed with the rig management team and, if appropriate, office based wells team
  • Ensure efficient movement of all personnel, equipment and materials
  • Accountable for the preparation, understanding and issuing of Rig Work Instructions
  • Accountable for accurate recording at the Well-site, i.e. Daily Drilling Reports and ensuring distribution
  • Manage Service Companies as required
  • Accountable for conducting morning calls with onshore operations team
  • Responsible for investigation and close out of all Non-Productive Time (NPT) or failures relating to Wells operations
  • Accountable to complete Company Contractor Scorecards, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and provide feedback as required
  • Accountable for conducting After Action Reviews to capture and embed lessons learned / opportunities for improvement

Essential Requirements:

  • University Degree OR Valid Well Control for Subsea and Surface Supervisory Level to Industry Accreditation for example: International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), International Well Control Forum (IWCF) WellCap.
  • Valid BOSIET desirable.
  • Minimum Twelve (12) years of experience in drilling operations.
  • Minimum Seven (7) years of experience as Drilling WSL in offshore environment (drill ship or semi-submersible rig,)
  • Minimum Two (2) years as Drilling SWSL
  • Demonstrable leadership of Safety and Risk Management
  • HTHP Exploration well experience of at least two years

The start date for this role is January 2019 for an initial 12 month contract with line review on a 28/28 rotation.
